I was in a car wreck a few months ago and as a result have a shoulder impingement. My treatment is cortizone shots and physical therapy. This could go on for months and i cant partake in daily activities that i used to be able to. I was wondering what settlements numbers look like for this type of case in Tn. I have a lawyer but haven't talked to him yet they are waiting until im done with treatment to put it all together. Just wondered …if anyone has any ideas its greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It all depends on the damage done to yourself, and if you recover 100%. Alot of the big settlements are due to not recovering, and receiving future losses. Medical bills will be covered, and so will the PT. Lost wages will be paid too. Pain & suffering varies greatly, according to the injury. Soft tissue injuries often get less than a broken bone. After the lawyer takes his 25%, or 33% if it goes to court, you will probably end up with 5-10 thousand.

Can neck injury from a car accident cause problems later in life if not properly rehabilitated?

I was in a car accident 10 years ago and didn't get the proper treatment. I have muscle and joint pain all over my body to this day and it's getting worse. I believe it's from the neck injury but doctors are not listening. They think it's fibromyalgia. I do not fit that criteria. The doctors are just not listening. Serious answers only please.

Oh yes, it happened to my husband, you need to see the best spinal specialist and a top neurosurgeon, one that can read MRIs and CT films. My husband's condition is irreversible. He developed arthritis, degenerative joint disease, osteoarthritis of the cervical, disc bulge in his neck, neural foraminal stenosis, disc compression, bone spur, spondylolsis, and spondylolisthesis, which causes horrible headaches. Have the specialist read these reports to you, also ask which hospital gives the best reports and clear films, my husband went to one hospital and the radiologist said there was nothing wrong with him and referred him to a pain clinic, we knew something was wrong there so we took the films to the neurosurgeon and he said, not impressive films but does see problems and he was sent downstairs and got A CT scan. Man, he is messed up. If you live in the chicago area, see Dr. Sweeney, (spinal specialist), (Neurosurgeon)-, Dr. Chuman. Dr. Christea is pretty good too. Good luck to you. P.S. Dr. Chuman works out of St. Anthony's hospitalin Crown Point, In. He is the best and a sweet doctor.

Could keeping your eyes open right before an accident help minimize injury?

My girlfriend always tends to close her eyes when shes passenger in the car whenever someone cuts me off or an aggressive maneuver has to be performed to avoid an accident.

Well she was in a car accident as a passenger. I wasn't driving. The driver hit a tree, my girlfriend had a punctured liver and a fractured back disc, nothing happened to the driver or the 3rd person in the back seat. Do you think if she had kept her eyes open she would've been able to anticipate the impact and do a better job bracing herself/ tensing up her muscles or hanging on to something?

If you close your eyes you can't anticipate anything so it seems you would be much more vulnerable.

Does this hold any truth?

You probably wouldn't be able to regulate whether you kept your eyes open or not. It would depend on the situation and how fast things happened. Your eyelids close as a natural defense to protect the eyes themselves. As far as bracing, you may suffer more injury than if you were more relaxed (if that's possible) in a collision.

Whats the worst accident or injury you've had?

I used to be really accident prone when I was younger!! It seemed like I spent most of my youth on a hospital ward!

My worst accident/injury was when I fell from a balcony on a three story apartment block. I was 20 years old. I fractured the 4th lumber on my spine. I was in hospital for five weeks, and off work for a futher 3 months. I went on to make a full recovery, although I still have the odd problem with my back!

How about you?

Mine was a car wreck. I hit a tree goin 147 mph at my drivers door. It took them over 40 min. to cut me out of the car. Finally i started to die on scene so they just drugged me up and pulled me out. I spent 3 weeks in a comma. Durring that time they had to bring me back to life twice and they put 6 lbs of rods and pins in my leg. I spent a total of 2 months in the hospital and about 6 months in a wheelchair.

ADD ON

No it was not. Thats why i now work with anti-streetracing groups as well as what headed me towards becoming and EMT.

How do I find my wrecked motorcycle towed from injury accident?

I do not know anything regarding what took place after cops got there! I dont have an accident report or anything, no information what so ever.

Call the police agency local to where the accident took place.
They can either tell you where it was towed to, or which agency (local police, sheriff, highway patrol, etc) handles that particular road where the accident happened.
